Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith offers thirteen years of experience in the high-tech industry, including domestic and international posts for leading internet companies and successful entrepreneurial ventures.  He has displayed a diverse range of skills in positions at Real Networks, AOL and others, including complex contract negotiation, product marketing and software design.

Currently Kelly serves as the Vice President of Business Development for Myrio Corporation - the leading developer of IPTV software. Quite simply, Myrio provides software that allows telecommunications companies to provide TV and entertainment services to consumers as a viable alternative to cable and satellite.

As the first European Director of Business Development for Seattle-based RealNetworks, Kelly managed overall market development from the London offices to include aggressive partnerships with leading content and infrastructure companies such as BBC, British Telecom, Carlton Television, France Telecom and Ericsson AB.   Subsequently, Kelly assumed responsibility for many of RealNetworks top OEM partners with an aim to integrate technology into respective hardware and software platforms. In this position, Kelly initiated and led partnerships with top tier companies such as Dell, HP, Gateway, IBM, Philips, Creative and Sony.

Most recently, Kelly fulfilled his entrepreneurial ambitions, and successfully founded, funded and sold a thriving digital media start-up called RocketVox.  Kelly defined the software features, the partnership requirements and ultimately developed the company into a leading entertainment provider for businesses and consumers in emerging media channels. RocketVox distributed world-class entertainment properties across the Internet, broadband services, and mobile devices.  Leading organizations such as A&E, National Geographic and FIFA World Cup Soccer and others distributed content via RocketVox's unique product offering.  The company was eventually acquired by thePlatform and Kelly managed strategic partnerships as its Vice President of Business Development.   

Kelly's earliest high-tech business experience combined his technical understanding and marketing capabilities to lead sales and business development efforts with SPRY Inc., the first commercial licensor of the NCSA Mosaic browser source code.  Kelly managed international business units for SPRY until Compuserve/AOL acquired the company in 1994 and continued with AOL for the transition, until he joined RealNetworks.

Today, Kelly sits on the Board of Directors for Preworx PTY and ActivHealth and provides technical and marketing expertise to Red Tie Media. Kelly holds a degree in Business Administration from Walla Walla College in the state of Washington , and is fluent in key development platforms and technologies such as ASP, Flash, HTML, XML, Java, Perl and more.
